Yellow Goldenback Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are a lovely dwarf shrimp you'll commonly see in freshwater planted tanks. Known for their bright yellow color, they stand out beautifully against aquatic plants and darker substrates. In peaceful aquariums, these critters spend most of the day foraging for biofilm and algae, making them both a lively and practical addition.
These shrimp are peaceful and hardy in nature, making them great for beginner and experienced hobbyists alike. In safe, healthy conditions, aquarium shrimp breed fairly easily. When setting up a shrimp tank, make sure to provide plenty of shelter and hiding spots. Choose non-aggressive tank mates, and keep in mind that some fish may view shrimplets as food. Gentle filtration is best, and if you’re using a canister filter, consider an intake cover to protect young shrimp from being sucked in.
Tank size recommendation: 5-10G
