An Edwardian style sapphire and diamond cluster ring, c.1979. Though created in 1979, this ring is a faithful homage to the Edwardian style, with its low profile, antique diamonds and finely detailed craftsmanship. It is beautifully proportioned, timelessly elegant and the perfect ring for everyday wear.
Set to centre with a large natural, unheated Ceylon sapphire Weighing 2.52ct. Cornflower blue sapphires are prized for their delicate pale blue colour with violet undertones much like the flower for which they are named after. The finest stones come from the historic Ceylon mines (modern day Sri Lanka) like this one here!
Fourteen old-cut diamonds that encircle it - perfectly matched in colour and clarity, their hand-cut nature endows each diamond with its own unique character and sparkle. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.56ct, claw set in platinum with an intricately pierced gallery. To slightly raised shoulders featuring fleur-de-lis motifs which subtly taper into a solid 18ct yellow gold shank.
The interior of the shank is fully hallmarked, indicating it was made in London in 1979. Further marked with '750' indicating 18ct yellow gold and stamped with its historical inventory number '43'. Bears the makers mark 'AJW' for Arthur James Walker, a family jeweller registered since 1882.
Unless stated otherwise, gem weights and specifications are estimated (assessed in mount).
