Made during the 1920s, this Art Deco sapphire solitaire is such a special ring. My favourite thing about it is how understated it is despite the sapphires impressive weight of 6ct. The natural sapphire has the most charming cushion outline and great depth which makes its colour all the more interesting. It has insanely high clarity given its size and its colour is the most confusing but captivating mix of blues, violets and pale green - it has an almost painterly quality.
It is a soft slate-blue colour with notable lavender undertones and even a tiny glimmer of a soft sage green can be seen flickering in bottom corner of the stone as its turned under light. Claw-set above an open-work gallery which has a pleasingly low profile, making the ring perfectly comfortable and practical to wear. The decorative open-work design has a sense of structure to it, a linear design finished with delicate chenier details.
The shoulder are subtly open with further chenier details and they taper inwards ever so slightly to flow to a solid 18ct white gold D-shape shank.
Unless stated otherwise, gem weights and specifications are estimated (assessed in mount).
