Founded by Elizabeth C, Yeats, the Cuala Press, established in 1908, and its predecessor Dun Emer, represented an important part of early 20th century Irish visual culture, where the aim was to ‘teach skills that would allow women to sustain themselves and live independent lives’. They employed Irish hands, used the best of Irish materials and made “beautiful things”. Within the Cuala Archive TCD is a collection of original hand-coloured prints dating from the 1910s by some of Ireland's leading artists.
After these works, a selection of high quality reproduction prints are now exclusively available as part of the Trinity 1592 Collection.
