The Original Cathay Crossbody bag has always been a top choice among Bridger Leather's customers, however as our mobile phones get larger and larger,  I have decided to discontinue this style in favor of a slightly larger version.  

Perfect in its simplicity and compact size, this crossbody holds the essentials.  Its exterior pocket easily holds all types of cell phones, while the main compartment is roomy enough for a card wallet, lipstick, readers and the majority of cell phones that aren't the "super-max" sizes.  While this Cathay Mini will hold any regular sized mobile phone, it won’t close over the Plus or Max sizes. The larger phones DO fit into the exterior pockets.

Made with either cow or bison leather and adorned with unique touches like Swarovski crystals, spots, conchos, goat or cow hair hides or embossed crocodile patterns, these bags are truly one-of-a-kind.  If you see one you like... grab it now : )

Who this Bag is Named for?

It is named for US Army Private Cathay Williams, who enlisted in the US Army in 1866 as "William Cathay" and served for 3 years passing herself off as a man. She was eventually found out to be a woman and was honorably discharged in 1868. She then signed up with an all-black regiment that eventually would become known as the the legendary Buffalo Soldiers. Though over 400 women served in the Civil War posing as male soldiers, Cathay was the first African American women to enlist and the only documented woman to serve in the United States Army while disguised as a woman.
