An antique Edwardian opal and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre a 0.73 carat cabochon-cut white opal displaying a spectrum of colour, set in a fine platinum setting and encircled by a cluster of round-cut diamonds. The twelve diamonds amount to a combined weight of 0.48 carats and are also secured in platinum grain settings with an open back-holing. The gallery is scalloped and gently pierced leading to tapering shoulders. Tested 18ct yellow gold and platinum, circa 1905.
