The fuel tank pressure sensor or fuel vapor pressure sensor measures the atmospheric pressure within the fuel tank and sends a voltage signal to the engine control module (ECM). The fuel tank pressure sensor is part of a vehicle's sealed EVAP (Evaporative) system or emissions control system that retains fuel vapors and prevents raw hydrocarbons from being released into the atmosphere. Other components of the EVAP system (such as vent valves and purge valves) act in the direction of the ECM based on the signal on the fuel tank pressure sensor.
