This “imagined” mineral specimen brooch was inspired by rocks I collected as a child, and specimens such as at The Natural History Museum. I have created a new, completely unique gemstone that takes crystal shapes (such as garnets) and rock textures (such as schist), and morphed them into a new, fun and almost celestial jewel. The colouring pushes the boundaries of reality on earth into something otherworldly. And the surrounding silver emulates it’s preciousness by clutching it in place.
