In the centre of this ballerina style cluster of diamonds is an oval-cut 1.60 carat sapphire. Surrounding the blue gemstone is a cluster of ten round-cut diamonds. A second, slightly larger, contrasting arrangement of baguette cut diamonds creates a wave-like motion to form the celebrated 'ballerina' cocktail ring that derives its name from the ballerina tutu dress. The forty diamonds amount to a combined weight of three carats and lead down to an 18ct white gold basket setting. An exciting, impressive cocktail ring, circa 1950.
