Fabulous old Mauritanian "amber" beads made from Bakelite - Phenolic Resin. They are huge round beads in a dark amber color with matrix, they have brass beads on the tops and loops on the bottom. You can easily remove those or use them to hook on to chains or necklaces. These beads are highly prized and traded in Africa, they were made in Germany in the early decades of the 20th century. Beads of this composition have been traded in Africa for over 100 years. These beads passed the Simichrome test.
