A superb Charlton 8550C fly reel with the super scarce spey spool! 4 1/2" diameter and set up for RHW. It has a 1.2" spool width and a weight of 12.3 ounces. It is designed to hold the equivalent of DT11F and 230 yards of 30# backing. Serial #8550-9060. Excellent lightly used condition with a few minor scuffs and two small nicks on the frame edge. The reel is pretty clean overall. Type III black anodized throughout save for the silver medallion, counterbalance and facing on the crank spindle. Considered by Jack Charlton himself as his best work, the Charlton 8550C is known by anglers and collectors around the world for its machining quality. The 8550C series follows the Charlton configurable approach, accommodating line weights 7 and above with four distinctively different spools sizes (each sold separately). The legendary sealed carbon fiber disk drag is self-adjusting and has over 9-square inches of surface area. A large arbor design gives the angler over one foot of line retrieve per revolution.
