Due to an incident of a notice board falling on Stanley during his sleep, upon waking he finds himself completely flat and just one inch thick, yet he now discovers himself with the new found ability to be able to fly around the world like a kite and fit through the post.

The idea of the story came from Jeff Brown’s sons when one night they asked what would happen if the notice board above them were to fall on them, Brown said that you will wake up flat and this led to his idea of what a life might look like.
