Dating back to around the 1990s, this handmade unisex necklace features a triangular piece of Australian opal inlay, surrounded by layers of tan picture jasper, sterling silver, and black onyx accents.  Small but mighty, the opal glows with piercing green and blue colors in the sunlight—like a colorful iris within its dark accompanying medium.

Signs of the unknown artist's workmanship are noticable, particulary when viewing the pendant up-close; the inner sterling silver frame that separates the two sections of picture jasper show an imperfect polish, a phenomenon created by the soldering process.  Measuring just over 1.5 inches long from the top of the bail to the lowest point of the pendant, this perfectly imperfect piece makes a visible-yet-personal statement by its wearer.
