The TBI (Throttle Body Injection) is an early style (80’s early 90’s) injection system that replaced carburetors. It sprays fuel just above the throttle plate in the throttle body. The incoming air then draws the fuel and air into the cylinders through the intake manifold. If the TB injector is malfunctioning due to leakage, electrical failure, or some other reason, it causes a variety of failure modes, from poor fuel economy to start problems. In the remanufacturing process, each injector is cleaned, degreased, and subjected to a coil resistance test.
