Shou, or Ripe Pu'er is a dark and fermented tea that is very popular in the Yunnan region of China, and quickly becoming a favorite daily drinker tea for many across the world! This Ripe Pu'erh comes from Yiwu, a region of Yunnan normally known for its Raw, or Sheng Pu'erh.

Our partner on Yibang mountain, who produces our Yibang Sheng and Yibang White Peony, also takes a harvest from ancient trees in the Yiwu region to craft his own ripe Pu'erh. The processing is much cleaner and modern than most factories, being elevated and mechanically turned and moistened during the fermentation and oxidation stages. The result is distinctively clean, crisp, and pure in flavor, with no trace of ripe Pu'erh fishiness you may find from large scale productions.

The forward tasting notes of this tea is forest floor, with an almost dark chocolate quality to the mouth feel and flavor. A strong minerality helps the flavor linger, and this tea seems to be very influenced by the water, vessel, and brewing type used. The qi of this tea is intense when brewed strong, may even bring on some fun tea drunkenness 

We prefer 212F/100C Gongfu brewing at 7g/100ml though western style teapot brewing is great at 1g/100ml, providing a more clear and soft flavor
