The first barrels we filled back in 2018 were 3 gorgeous old Portuguese tawny port barriques. At our in-house tasting these have consistently been our favourite barrels. What we love is that their size has given the spirit an elegant French Oak complexity with just a very subtle fortified richness. We’ve married this with the first of our larger format ex-bourbon barrels. This ensures that whilst the toffee’s, vanillas and caramels which our whisky in known for are still very much the star of the show, the French oak complexity adds another level of detail.

Tasting notes   

Ex-bourbon toffee’s, vanillas and caramels overlaid with a delicate French oak complexity. Just a hint of smoke and milk chocolate from our four grain mashbill.

Our wide-cuts approach to the second distillation, as always, adds soft tobacco and leather and a ‘come-back-for-more’ chewy mouthfeel and viscosity.
