The Eddu 1999 – Diamant is an exceptional French whisky from Brittany, distilled by the Distillerie des Menhirs and made entirely from wheat – a rarity in the whisky world. This edition was matured for 16 years and bottled in 2015 as a very limited edition of just 350 bottles .
Maturation took place in Cognac casks , followed by Brocéliande oak barrels , resulting in a distinctly elegant, refined, and gourmet profile . The nose reveals ripe stone fruit, honey, vanilla, soft spices, and floral notes . The palate is silky smooth , with dried apricot, light caramel, nutty notes, and subtle wood , perfectly balanced with the wheat base. The finish is long, warm, and harmonious , without aggression.
This isn't a powerhouse, but a luxurious, contemplative whisky , intended for lovers of finesse, old cognac influences, and atypical whiskies. The combination of long maturation, small production run, and excellent score makes this a true collector's item and a true pleasure .
