Rare Victorian Ivory and Celluloid Cameo. Beautiful Neoclassical female figure carved out of celluloid. She has ringlet curls and flowers in her hair. Celluloid was patented in 1868 and was among the earliest types of plastic. The elegant frame is carved from genuine elephant ivory. It has a Push-Pull Trombone Clasp. The Push-pull or Trombone catch was patented in Britain in 1850 and was popular up until 1900.
