A glactic scene featuring inlaid stones forming a crescent moon, Saturn, stars, and a comet stretches above a desert floor. Fiery blue, green, and orange lab-created opal accents leap from the planet and stars, as well as the comet's tail; black onyx is used to represent the night's sky. The malachite cactus sits on natural blue Peruvian opal.
Made from sterling silver, this spacey Southwest-inspired pendant measures 1.9 inches from the top of its lab-created opal-accented bail, allowing the piece to be enjoyed by men and women alike—the bail allows for up to a 5mm+ wide chain, offering versatility between feminine and masculine chain styles.
Signed "GI" on the back of the pendant by its unknown artist, the necklace is a beautiful example of modern Filipino craftsmanship made in the aesthetic of traditional Native American inlay, a style that has been practiced in Philippines culture since the 1960s and 1970s. The work is not flawless: black epoxy residue can be seen in the loop that connects the pendant's bail, and minor imperfections can be seen in the bright, white nickel plating along the pendant's bezel used to discourage tarnishing.
18” sterling silver box-style chain included.
We suggest not getting the piece wet, as many Philippines-crafted inlay pieces use or incorporate dyed gemstones for maximum color contrast. Though that might not be the case for this particular piece, it is considerably common enough of a practice for buyers to be aware of when buying any Philippines-made inlay jewelry.
